---- A spiritual travel in the christian Rome Discovering San Pietro, San Giovanni, Santa Maria Maggiore and San Giovanni in Laterano Millions of pilgrims, men and women from all over the world, will pass trough the door of the Basilica of San Pietro (St.Peter's Church) for the Jubilee of Pope Francis. A spiritual trip in the Christian Rome that its expressed in all its force within these walls where St. Peter - apostle of Jesus and the first pope - was buried after his martyrdom. In front of the main entrance there is still a circle of red marble - the exact point where Charlemagne knelt before the Pope. Michelangelo created the magic inside of St. Peter’s Church. He shaped the dome of the basilica that stands high almost to touch the infinite. Here you will find also Michelangelo’s sculpture Pietà Vaticana: the mother of Jesus represented with a young face. She holds her dead son. This sculpture is not only an outstanding example of the Renaissance, but also the only one where we find the signature of Michelangelo, who was only 22 years old when realized it. You can then find also excellent works of other artists such as Canova Not far from from Termini station you will visit another Basilica: Santa Maria Maggiore. You can’t miss the blue, red and gold mosaics of the fifth century. This intense spiritual and cultural trip continues over the Aurelian walls. We are in the area of Ostiense, in San Paolo – St. Paulo’s church. The basilica was built in 324 AD, just where christians venerated the memory of St. Paul, beheaded by Nero. St. Paul was a former soldier who converted to Christianity . For this reason is always portrayed with a sword in hand. Inside the Basilica there are medallions representing all the popes of the history. The only with light is the one representing Pope Francis that is now ruling. At the end of our spiritual itinerary we discover San Giovanni in Laterano - St. John Lateran’s Church. It is the mother of all churches and it is the oldest in the West.
